Martin Stacey (Head Coach) is currently seated as a Member at Large and has agreed to continue. With three nominees (Stephanie, Martin and Michelle) to the two vacant positions, votes will be tallied and the two with the highest number of votes will be elected to the two Member at Large positions.
Voting is open to all Members in good standing (Junior, Collegiate and Masters) of the Coeur d'Alene Rowing Association. Affiliate Members are not eligible to vote. A Member in Good Standing is defined as any non-affiliate member with dues current and all required paperwork complete. If you're not sure, ask us and we'll be glad to let you know your standing!
Please complete the attached ballot and return via any of the following methods. All paper or electronic ballots must be received no later than Monday, Oct 16 at 5 PM to be considered.

The Coeur d'Alene Rowing Association had a GREAT showing at the Head of the Pend Oreille on Saturday with 5 first place finishes for the Junior Rowers and a first place finish for Masters Vicki Kimball and Lisa Young.

ANNUAL MEETING AND ELECTION OF THE 2018 BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Good morning Members of the CDA Rowing Association –
It is time once again for our annual meeting where the membership of our club is tasked with electing Board Members for the 2018 fiscal year. Your Board of Directors are tasked with conducting the business and operations of our non-profit organization as well as ensuring that our club lives up to our stated mission which is to “Inspire a lifelong love of the sport of rowing in a safe and fun environment.” The term for each member of the Board is one year at which membership has a say in the leadership for the next year.
Your current Board is comprised of the following volunteers:
Tom Hamilton – President Mark Vorhees – Vice President Kathleen Atkins – Treasurer Ann Cone – Secretary Martin Stacey – Member at Large Tim Papineau – Member at Large
With the exception of Mr. Papineau, each member of the Board has stated that they are willing to continue to serve for the next fiscal year and their names will be put forward for consideration.
However, every member of the CDA Rowing Association has the ability to nominate either themselves or someone else for election to any Board position. The Board will need to collect nominations for the open Member at Large position. To serve on the Board, one does not need to be a member of the CDA Rowing Association.
All members in good standing are eligible to nominate and are also eligible to vote (including our Junior members!). Please note that Affiliate Members do not have voting privileges.
If you are interested in serving or nominating either a current Board Member or someone else to any of the positions on our Board, please submit that nomination to Ann Cone at Secretary@cdarowing.org. Ann will compile all nominations and prepare a ballot for any contested or open positions. Members will be able to vote via email or at the annual meeting which will be held on October 17th at Calypso’s Coffee beginning at 5:30 PM.
The timeline for the election process will be as follows:
• Nominations are open beginning today. • Friday, Oct 6: Nominations Closed • Monday, Oct 9: Ballots distributed via email to all members in good standing. Ballots can be returned via email, US Post Office or in person at the annual meeting but must be received no later than 5:30PM on October 17 to be considered. • Tuesday, Oct 17: Annual meeting – votes tallied and your Board elected for the next year.

Good afternoon Rowers, Parents and Friends of CDA Rowing -
We really only have about 5 weeks left in our rowing season this year. I don't know about you, but that makes me more than just a little bit sad. It seems like just a few days ago we put the boats in the water.
As we wrap up the year, there are a few important items coming up of which you should be aware. For now, please just save the dates if you can. More info will follow on each soon:
Annual Meeting / October 17 - the annual meeting is primarily focused on electing the Board of Directors for the 2018 fiscal year. We will meet October 17 at Calypso's Coffee starting at 5:30 PM. The Board is responsible for the business and operation of the club (ie, we're the ones that spend your dues!) so the election of the Board of Directors is an important event. More to follow very soon on the nomination and election process.
Boat Storage / November 11 - we will be asking for help to derig and move the boats to winter storage on Saturday, November 11th. This is one week after the Greenlake / Frostbite Regatta meaning that boats will still be available for that race if you'd like to participate. If anyone has ideas about storage for the winter, we would love to hear them. One component we'd like to add is the ability to access the boats over the winter months to do maintenance and repairs
End of the Year Celebration - November 18 - We have set a date of November 18th for an end of the year celebration at the Freeman Barn (located in the Big Sky development off Huetter Road). This will be a potluck format and all members, family and friends of the club are welcome to attend!

The Head of the Pend Oreille is this Saturday! Please accept my apologies for the late date of this communication. I only received the information I needed yesterday so I'm getting it out as quickly as I can.
BOAT LOADING We will be de-rigging the boats and loading the trailers Friday beginning at 3:15 PM. This is a mandatory team activity for anyone rowing at Priest River.
TRAVELING TO PRIEST RIVER We are asking that rowers plan to be in Priest River no later than 6:30 AM on Saturday, Sept 30th in order to help unload trailers and rig the boats. Yes, we know this is early...very early, but the Coxswain's Meeting is at 8:00 AM and we need to be 100% ready to row by that time!
Our boats will be at a park just east of town called the Mudhole. If you are coming from the west (Newport) it is about 1/8 of a mile after the bridge that crosses the Priest River on the right. The driveway sneaks up on you a bit, so be looking. This is also where we will launch and this year is also the finish line for the race.
ENTRY FEES There are none!!! Woo Hoo!!! There is an opportunity to purchase T-Shirts from the Regatta so bringing a little pocket money is a good idea.
WAIVERS This race REQUIRES a waiver for each participant. We need these back from everyone before boat-loading on Friday, please. These are not optional and if I don't have a signed waiver, you can not be allowed to row.
SNACKS! I'm very happy to report that Amy Fine has once again agreed to help put this together for HOP. Parents are asked to pitch in for the snacks so if you'd like to help her with the tent or snacks, please let her know. Her email is firstname.lastname@example.org.

VIEWING THE RACE Rowers will put in at “The Mudhole”, row upstream on the Priest River to the starting point and finish back at the Mudhole.
Due to the length of the race and challenges of the course, many of our Junior rowers are only participating in one event. Please try to understand that the health and safety of your rower is our primary concern and decisions get made based on those two priorities first and foremost.
Spectators can view the regatta from the Priest River Bridge on Hwy 2 or at the Mudhole itself.
We often need a little help during launching and recovery, mostly with gathering and returning shoes and warm-ups. If you would consider helping at the MudHole it is very easy to help your rower launch and still get to see the finish of the race. Not everyone needs to do this, but a few "helpers" make it go much smoother.
CLOTHING It will be cold Saturday morning when we start and there is forecast rain that day so please make sure your kids are dressed appropriately! Remember, though, that we don't row with heavy cotton sweat shirts, hoodies, sweat pants, etc. For those that don't have uniforms yet, please make sure they have a tech shirt or something similar and tight fitting shorts / pants. Baggy pants don't work with rowing seats. Team colors are Viking blue and white (sorry non-Viking people) and tech shirts can be found for a good price at several of our local sporting good stores and Walmart.
The next opportunity to order uniforms will be Spring Season next year.
BOAT LOADING IN PRIEST RIVER Loading the trailer after racing is a team activity in which everyone is expected to participate. Please tell your families to plan to stay long enough to complete that activity which usually lasts until early to mid-afternoon. Your Coach will let you know you are dismissed when the trailer is ready to roll!
GAS MONEY This race is pretty close, so the gas will cost me about $30 to 35. I feel a little silly asking each of you for $1.25, so I won't. If you feel moved to throw a little into the gas fund, I won't turn it down.
